I would like to obtain a copy of your doctorial thesis, preferable in some etext form. I have been studying SDA history for years, especially 1888, and my conversations with elder Weiland continue to increase my interest. Your dissertation would seem to be must reading in my opinion. best regards.

From the following URL you can download the book "Chronological Studies Related to Daniel 8:14 and 9:24-27" in PDF. It contains Biblical, Historical, Calendrical and Astronomical evidences.
To download roll down the page and go to the last item.

http://www.abibliarevela.com/?page_id=19

You will be surprised to understand what really happened within the SDAC in relation to this subject.

Thanks

Brown on brown unfortunately does not encourage enjoyable reading and the darkness of the background suggests a gloomy or ominous element to your otherwise clear and bright content.

Oh how blessed we'd all be if you would change to something more easier on the eyes.

God bless you as he leads you to select colors and fonts that will liberate all of us who like reading your blog, but who are appalled by the dark colors and tiny miniscule font.

Thanks for such a succinct and clear overview--this is definitely an episode of Adventist history I knew/know very little about. It actually helps explain a lot of the tensions I still see today.

Ranald - Do you think the larger font size better? Hope so :) As far as the color contrast goes ... I just like this better :)

Please have consideration for older people struggling to read this. Please change to a better contrast. The present format gives me a headache in minutes. Whats wrong with plain black and white?
Thanks .

Elaine: Sorry about the nuisance; I just wanted a different, simpler look.

Glenn: Froom et al. were concerned that Adventists were constantly being maligned by others as cults. They felt it affected evangelism. For them, their work in setting the record straight was part of Adventism's evangelistic outreach. The 2nd part of your question is a good one which, I'm sorry to say, I don't have time to respond adequately. The short answer is that they saw Adventism as the true center of Christianity and that others fell away from it. Thus, getting others to recognize Adventism's Christianity was part of Adventism's remnant mission.

Why exactly did Froom and others so very much want acceptance by Calvinist evangelicals? Aside from the debates about the Atonement and the Nature of Christ that QOD generated and for which the book and aftermath are known, how did Froom and other pro-evangelical Adventist leaders reconcile Adventism's original "Come out of her my people" mission, as embodied in the Three Angels' Messages, with gaining acceptance by the churches which Adventism was long-pledged to oppose?

When things degenerate to almost a courtroom scene of legal wrangling and hair splitting, the original intent of scripture and Ellen White are lost. It's sort of like resorting to Robert's Rules of Order when the civility of a nominating committee meeting is lost! An atmosphere of medieval scholasticism reigns supreme! Help wanted for doctors of the law and canon lawyers!!

I would love to, but with the extremely dark background the print is too difficult to read! Why was the former format changed? Was there a complaint?

As you can see, I didn't read the first paragraph which answered my question. I feel dumb. Anyways, thanks for sharing yours now and I'm looking forward to reading the others in the future.

Thanks for sharing your paper with us. Very good summary that has helped me get my mind wrapped around the debate a bit better.

Were any of the presentations recorded or is there a way to let the papers be read by those who didn't attend?
