I’m teaching Development of Seventh-day Adventist Theology at Sahmyook University in Seoul, Korea, until July 6th. Today was our 2nd day. It promises to be an exhilarating and exhausting experience—interacting with 21 students in their M.Div. and Ph.D. programs in theology for 4 hours each day from Sunday to Friday for two weeks.
We discussed various roots of Adventism yesterday (Sunday), and today I gave an overview of the history of Adventist views on inspiration and hermeneutics. We move on to Ellen White tomorrow and Wednesday.
I doubt I will be able to post more during my stay here. The place where I’m staying is going through an upgrade of their internet cable. Hence, no internet access from my room.
I’ll post again in mid-July after I return (or maybe sooner).
Following in your mentor’s footsteps Julius? =) 6 days a week? Wow…that’s pretty intense.
Comment by Joey 06.28.07 @ 11:00 amYeah, Joey, it’s been very intense and satisfying. I hope to be able to return regularly to teach. It felt great to be introducing facts, ideas, approaches and perspectives that hadn’t been discussed in Korean Adventism before. Also, I feel a certain sense of calling to help the Korean church do self-theologizing in its own ways apart and independent of American Adventism.
But … I’m looking forward to returning to Loma Linda on Sunday.
